Welcome to FlavorLo! These terms explain how our heritage baking community works and what we can expect from each other. I’ve tried to write this in plain English instead of confusing legal language.
Acceptance of Terms
By using FlavorLo.com, signing up for our newsletter, or participating in our workshops, you’re agreeing to these terms. If something doesn’t make sense or you have questions, email me at Contact@flavorlo.com and I’ll explain it in regular human language.
Use of Content
What You Can Do With Our Recipes:
- Make them in your own kitchen (obviously!)
- Share them with family and friends
- Print copies for personal use
- Adapt them for dietary restrictions or preferences
- Teach techniques to others with proper credit
What Requires Permission:
- Publishing our recipes in cookbooks or commercial publications
- Using recipes for commercial baking businesses
- Reproducing large portions of content on other websites
- Creating derivative works for profit
Always Required: When sharing our recipes anywhere public (social media, blogs, etc.), please credit “Leana Rodriguez from FlavorLo.com” and include a link back to the original recipe post.
User Contributions
When You Share With Us: By sending recipe stories, family traditions, photos, or comments, you’re giving us permission to:
- Feature your contributions in blog posts and newsletters
- Use your stories to educate others about heritage baking
- Include your photos in our recipe posts (with credit)
- Reference your experiences in workshops and presentations
We’ll Always:
- Ask permission before featuring your personal stories prominently
- Give you credit when we use your contributions
- Respect your privacy preferences
- Allow you to request removal of your contributions
Please Don’t:
- Share recipes that aren’t yours without permission from the original creator
- Post inappropriate, offensive, or unrelated content
- Include personal information about others without their consent
- Violate copyright or intellectual property rights
Intellectual Property
FlavorLo Content Ownership:
- Original written content, photography, and video tutorials belong to FlavorLo Heritage Baking
- Traditional recipes belong to their cultural communities – we’re just documenting and sharing them respectfully
- Our unique explanations, modifications, and teaching methods are our intellectual property
Your Rights:
- Personal use of all content for non-commercial purposes
- Educational use with proper attribution
- Sharing individual recipes with appropriate credit
Respect for Tradition: We acknowledge that traditional recipes and techniques belong to the communities that created and preserved them. Our role is documentation and education, not ownership.
Heritage Recipe Disclaimers
Traditional Techniques: These recipes represent family traditions and may vary between regions, families, and generations. Our versions are documented interpretations based on research and testing.
Cultural Sensitivity: We strive to present all food traditions respectfully and accurately. If you notice any cultural inaccuracies or insensitive presentations, please contact us immediately at Contact@flavorlo.com.
Recipe Results: While we test every recipe multiple times, results can vary based on:

Food Safety & Allergy Disclaimers
Food Safety Responsibility:
- Follow safe food handling practices in your own kitchen
- Use fresh, quality ingredients

- Trust your instincts – if something looks, smells, or tastes wrong, don’t use it
Allergy Warnings:
- Many heritage recipes contain common allergens (eggs, dairy, nuts, wheat)
- We note major allergens when possible, but you’re responsible for checking all ingredients

Workshop Terms
Registration & Payment:
- Workshop fees are non-refundable but transferable to future workshops
- Registration confirmation via email within 24 hours
- Materials list provided one week before workshop date
Cancellation Policy:
- We may cancel workshops due to low enrollment (full refund provided)
- Weather or emergency cancellations include makeup date or full refund
- Individual cancellations accepted up to 48 hours before workshop for credit toward future events
Limitation of Liability
What We’re Responsible For:
- Providing accurate content based on our research and testing
- Maintaining website security and functionality
- Responding to questions and support requests promptly
- Respecting your privacy and data protection rights
What We’re Not Responsible For:
- Results of recipes in your individual kitchen
- Allergic reactions or food safety issues from following our recipes
- Injuries related to kitchen activities or equipment
- Loss or damage from website technical issues
- Third-party content or links we may reference
Maximum Liability: Our total liability for any claims related to FlavorLo content or services is limited to the amount you’ve paid us in the past 12 months (usually $0 for free blog content).
Community Guidelines
Our Heritage Baking Community Values:
- Respect for all food traditions and cultures
- Supportive encouragement for bakers of all skill levels
- Honest sharing of both successes and failures
- Credit given to original recipe creators and tradition keepers
- Family-friendly language and content
Behavior We Don’t Allow:
- Disrespectful comments about cultures or traditions
- Sharing others’ family recipes without permission
- Spam, promotional content, or unrelated links
- Personal attacks or harassment of community members
Governing Law
These terms are governed by South Carolina state law and federal U.S. law. Any disputes will be handled in Charleston County, South Carolina courts.

Changes to Terms
When We Update These Terms:
- Email notification to newsletter subscribers
- 30-day notice before changes take effect
- Explanation of what changed and why
- Option to discontinue use if you disagree with changes
